How to use a Sellfy “Buy now” button on Google Sites (part 2)

November 24, 2013

I have written that I could insert a Sellfy “Buy now” button on Google Sites by making a gadget just before. This post describes how I did it.

A Google Sites gadget can be made from just an XML file as below:

<Module>
 <ModulePrefs height="32"/>

</Module>

Here is the short instructions to make your own gadget:

 1. Create an XML file with the above contents.
 2. Get a HTML code from your Sellfy account with Open in new window selected.
 3. Substitute your HTML code for .
 4. Add target="_top" or target="_blank" to the a tag. Note if you forget this step, your product will be displayed only in a small area around the button.
 5. Upload the XML file to any location with a public URL.
 6. On Google Sites, choose [Insert] > [More gadgets…] and [Add gadget by URL], enter your gadget’s URL, and finally [Add].
 7. Then adjust preferences. I hope 32 pixels for the gadget height is enough, but your mileage may vary.
